Located just a few miles west of downtown Atlanta, Douglasville welcomes groups with friendly, small-town atmosphere and entertainment that emulates big-town fun. Groups will find Douglasville to be a serene escape to the outdoors, with shopping opportunities, lively amusements and a vibrant downtown. Visitors might even see filming locations for their favorite movie and television productions, featured along the Douglas County Film Trail.

“Our destination is located in the Atlanta Metro region, which provides visitors a close proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the ease of access to Interstate 20,” said Samantha Rosado, tourism program manager at the Douglasville Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). “We assist with RFPs for hotels, provide welcome bags to groups and aid in itinerary planning. We hope groups create a memorable experience with a desire to come back to explore more of Douglasville.”

Douglas County Museum of History and Art, Douglasville, Ga.

Douglasville’s history comes alive at the Douglas County Museum of History and Art. The museum is located in the old Douglas County Courthouse structure, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1958, the building is one of few remaining examples of the international style of architecture in the United States. Visitors will see exhibits and collections including Coca Cola memorabilia, early medical items, a history of local mills and a tribute to veterans, to name a few.

At the 2,500-acre Sweetwater Creek State Park, groups can wander trails that wind through fields and forests. One trail leads to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill that burned down during the Civil War. Groups can participate in a ranger-led hike or water activities like fishing, canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. Also on-site, the award-winning Visitor Center is recognized as one of the most environmentally responsible buildings in the country.

New this year, the Downtown GeoTour is a great way to explore Douglasville. Visitors can pick up or download a grid sheet to get clues to unscramble a message. Groups can participate in some retail therapy at Arbor Place, a mall featuring more than 150 specialty shops, including American Eagle Outfitters, Build-A-Bear Workshop, H&M, Forever 21, Victoria’s Secret and ULTA Beauty. The shopping destination is anchored by Dillard’s, Macy’s, Belk, JCPenney, Old Navy, and an 18-screen Regal IMAX Cinema.

Make time in the itinerary to check out Champ’s Clock Shop. The museum-like, full-service clock store features more than 1,000 different clocks, including the world’s largest real cuckoo clock, at more than 13 feet tall!
