For 55 years, Center of Science and Industry (COSI) has delighted Central Ohio with all things science. Located in Columbus, the nationally esteemed center offers 320,000 square feet of hands-on fun, inspiring all ages with STEM topics.

“As a trusted educational resource for families, schools and community partners, COSI is an essential element of our community, engaging more than one million people annually through on-site, off-site and online experiences,” said Kristy Williams, director of communications at COSI.

Although perfect for children and school groups, COSI isn’t just for the young.

“We have a saying here at COSI that ‘Science is Everywhere, and Science is for Everyone,’” Williams said. “COSI is absolutely for everyone as well! Besides, maybe, our Little Kidspace®, all of COSI’s exhibitions have activities for all ages.”

There’s a lot to discover at COSI, which brings science to life through 300-plus interactive experiences, nine galleries, live shows and demonstrations, and a planetarium. In the American Museum of Natural History Dinosaur Gallery groups can get up close to dinosaurs like the incredible T. rex and find out why they never really vanished from the Earth. The exhibit features a 6-foot-long mechanical T. rex model that walks in place and spectacular displays of dinosaur casts.

In the “Space” exhibit, visitors become astronauts, ride in a space capsule and even maneuver a rover through a Martian landscape. A mockup of the International Space Station teaches guests about life in orbit.

Groups learn how energy powers the world in the “Energy Explorers” exhibition, including where energy comes from and why personal energy choices matter. Visitors leave with practical tips to reduce their energy use at home.

New right now at COSI is “Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes” that runs through Memorial Day. Marvel fans rejoice while seeing more than 300 original artifacts, including some of Marvel’s most iconic costumes, props and original art, much of which has never before been put on public display.

Groups visiting COSI enjoy discounted rates, a convenient downtown location and box lunches or catering available for pre-order. Williams recommends groups plan to spend at least three to four hours at COSI.

“I hope groups can take away a sense of wonder,” she said. “COSI is a very special place, and whether you visited when you were a kid or are making the first trip as an adult, there’s so much to see and do here. There’s always something to learn!”

COSI is currently requiring visitors to wear masks at all times while indoors, unless actively eating or drinking. For full details, visit cosi.org/visit.
