In addition to exploring 65 acres of gardens and a historic grand estate, visitors to Bellingrath Gardens & Home in Theodore, Alabama, will have a new and unique attraction to discover now through June 15. Presented in partnership with Tianyu Arts & Culture, the Gulf Coast Chinese Lantern Festival is an immersive experience that is the first of its kind in the region. This nighttime attraction features over 40 handmade lanterns, showcasing Chinese culture and traditions alongside modern design. The result is an illuminated wonderland of vibrant colors and impressive creativity.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity to bring a world-class event to the Gulf Coast,” says Todd Lasseigne, executive director of Bellingrath Gardens & Home, via a press release. “Millions of people across 51 cities have been captivated by Tianyu’s lantern festivals, and we are thrilled to share this awe-inspiring experience with our community.”

The festival is held nightly from Thursday through Sunday, plus a special Monday opening on Memorial Day. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about the history and craftsmanship behind the festival, making for an enriching add to a group tour itinerary. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, as on-site sales will be limited and more expensive.
