SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER, La. — Located in northwest Louisiana, Shreveport-Bossier has no shortage of group-friendly attractions. The sister cities offer groups six riverboat casinos, horse racing, riverfront entertainment, mouthwatering cuisine, shopping at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets and a growing list of new, enchanting holiday experiences.
“From shopping extravaganzas to twinkling holiday light displays, Shreveport-Bossier has much to offer group tours during the holiday season,” said Erica Telsee, tourism sales manager at the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau.
This year only, groups can see the Rainbow City exhibit in downtown Shreveport, Nov. 2-Dec. 8. The outdoor experience features 35 whimsical, colorful, air-filled sculptures soaring 50 feet into the sky during a festival celebrating the opening of Shreveport Common Park in downtown Shreveport. Rainbow City is an art installation by FriendsWithYou, a collaborative art project of Los Angeles-based artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III. Rainbow City will also include six weekends of special events including yoga and fitness classes; a brunch with a jazz performance, Nov. 3; PJs, Pizza and a William Joyce book signing with movies, Nov. 24; and a celebration to kick off the Christmas Tree Lighting at Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival, Nov. 30.
Shreveport’s newest downtown holiday attraction, Le Marche de Noel, will be held on the banks of the Red River at Shreveport Aquarium, Nov. 29-Dec. 22. Inspired by German Christkindlemarkets, the enchanting open-air Christmas market offers a whimsical shopping experience for visitors. Groups can shop for handmade gifts, taste local food, sip on warm drinks and enjoy entertainment.
The annual Christmas in Roseland provides a winter wonderland experience featuring thousands of twinkling lights adorning the American Rose Center. The 60-acre park features train rides, giant Christmas cards, nightly entertainment and photos with Santa. The attraction is open Friday-Sunday, Nov. 29-Dec. 15, and nightly, Dec. 16-22.
Groups can ring in the holidays at Rockets Over the Red Fireworks Festival, Nov. 30, at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets in Bossier City and RiverView Park in downtown Shreveport. Both viewing areas will feature the largest outdoor Christmas trees in the region and a spectacular fireworks show over the Red River.
