Your first stop on your tour of the rural backroads of Amish Country is Lehman’s old-fashioned hardware store in Kidron, where Amish shop for cookware, tools, crockery, kegs, gas refrigerators and many other non-electric items. The store is over an acre under one roof and you are sure to find items you haven’t seen in years. Visit Kidron on a Thursday and you’ll be treated to the Kidron Livestock Auction right across the street.
Lunch today will be a special treat at the Dutch Kitchen Restaurant and Bakery. Your group will enjoy a “family-style” meal including wonderful homemade bread, peanut butter spread and apple butter. Choose from freshly broasted chicken, roast beef, real mashed potatoes and homemade noodles. Groups love adding on a kitchen experience of filling freshly baked cream sticks to take home. Private banquet rooms available for seating 5–200.
Your group is going to love the P. Graham Dunn Retail Gallery. Guests enter the massive two-story lobby where they are greeted by the grand wooden staircase. On the second level from viewing windows, they can watch Amish craftsmen at work creating laser engraved wood pieces for your home or gifts, such as, engraved Christmas ornaments, music boxes and wall carvings. Everyone will enjoy this one-of-a-kind destination, especially church and faith-based groups.
