Ford’s Theatre is one of Washington, D.C.’s most iconic cultural destinations, where history and live performance come together. Best known as the site of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, the campus includes the historic working theater, museum galleries, the Petersen House (where Lincoln died), the Aftermath Exhibits, and rotating special exhibitions. Group rates for productions are generally available for parties of 10 or more.
The “History on Foot” walking tour has also become a standout favorite, allowing visitors to follow Detective James McDevitt as he retraces John Wilkes Booth’s escape through the streets of Washington in the only official Lincoln assassination walking tour. Groups especially appreciate how the experience brings history to life beyond the museum walls. The campus’ newest special exhibit, “1776: The Musical,” showcases costumes, props, and scenic pieces from the theater’s spring production while exploring the historical context surrounding America’s founding, making it an excellent addition to America 250 itineraries.
Ford’s Theatre recently opened the Penny Cafe, which has prepackaged light bites, beverages, and snacks, for a convenient on-site option. For a more formal meal, Ford’s Theatre has a number of local dining partners including the Hard Rock Cafe, Cafe Riggs, The Hamilton, Old Ebbitt Grill, and more. Motorcoach drop-off is available nearby, and several designated motorcoach parking locations are available throughout downtown Washington, D.C. The theater’s group sales team can provide guidance during the planning process.
