With six restored, antique carousels Binghamton is known as the “Carousel Capital of the World.” Rides are always free on the carousels, which were a Johnson family gift. Carousels operate in the summer and are located in C. Fred Johnson Park, George W. Johnson Park, West Endicott Park, Highland Park, Recreation Park and Ross Park Zoo.

Head to Animal Adventure, an interactive animal park in Harpursville. Guests can hand-feed domestic and exotic animals. Roberson Museum and Science Center is Greater Binghamton’s largest year-round tourist attraction and features exhibitions and programs in art, history and science education. It is home to the region’s largest public model train display, a digital planetarium, the Roberson Mansion and the Binghamton Visitor Center. Guided tours are available.

Go to Windy Hill Candle Factory & Candyland, which offers top-selling candles and old-fashioned retro candy. Since 1995 the business in Port Crane, just outside of Binghamton, has provided factory outlet pricing direct to retailers and consumers. Operators can contact Windy Hill for a private candle-making tour and demonstration for a group for a fee.
