Q: What makes Camden/Rockland an appealing port city?

A: The Camden-Rockland region offers the quintessential Maine coast experience, featuring breathtaking vistas, fabulous food and spirits, accessible islands and lighthouses, numerous ways to get out on the water, dozens of destination events and a vibrant art scene.

Q: What attractions do you recommend cruisers visit?

A: In addition to the natural beauty of the Maine coast (and of course, the freshest lobster in the world in a variety of local restaurants!), the Camden-Rockland region features a number of outstanding museums, led by the renowned Farnsworth Art Museum. The Farnsworth offers a nationally-recognized collection of many of America’s greatest artists, most notably a vast collection of works from the Wyeth family. The nearby Center for Maine Contemporary Art, as well as numerous galleries throughout the area make this the Art Capital of Maine.

The area is also home to the phenomenal collection of antique autos, airplanes, and motorcycles at the Owls Head Transportation Museum, the Maine Lighthouse Museum and several others. Our shops and restaurants in Camden, Rockland and other local villages offer unique items, experiences and dining opportunities not found elsewhere.

Plenty of recreational activities abound year-round as well, from hiking, biking, golf and sailing, to winter pastimes like skiing and snowboarding — the Camden Snow Bowl is the only ski area on the East Coast where you can see the Atlantic Ocean from the slopes!

Q: What advice do you have for first-time cruisers Returning For a Visit after their cruise?

A: Those visiting the area for a night (or several) will find that the Camden-Rockland Region is the perfect hub for your Maine coast vacation. In addition to the many reasons to visit our local area, the Camden-Rockland Region is literally at the center of the Maine coast, so you can unpack once and take easy day trips up and down the Maine coast to popular destinations such as Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, Portland, Freeport (home to L.L. Bean), the Boothbay region and many other beautiful Maine spots.
