Located in Alberta and situated beside the Canadian Rockies, Calgary is known for its cosmopolitan energy as well as its western appeal; the city is lined with skyscrapers yet boasts the nickname “Cowtown” due to its annual stampede event and rodeo culture.
“Calgary is a destination that balances it’s storied western roots with contemporary architecture,” said Nancy Jackson, manager of travel trade at Tourism Calgary. “Located against the backdrop of natural wonders, Calgary is the ideal basecamp to adventures in Alberta, particularly the Canadian Rockies.”

VISIT
With its bright red, helical shape, the Peace Bridge is a unique piece of art that defines the Calgary Bow River Pathway and is a must-see for groups. This steel structure was built to support its own weight — with no beams or cables included in the design, making it one of the most distinctive bridges in the world.
