This year marks the 60th anniversary for the Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT). Catch one of the shows during its milestone celebration season.
“We operate our summer season out of Bowdoin College’s Pickard Theater, located in the picturesque town of Brunswick, Maine,” said Olivia Wenner, communications outreach & group sales manager for Maine State Music Theatre. “Patrons often enjoy strolling around the Bowdoin College campus in addition to shopping and dining downtown. We’ve been in the same spot since 1959, and coming to MSMT has become a summer staple for our patrons and community members.”
The 600-seat theater has Gothic-style granite, a stained-glass exterior and a proscenium stage with a full fly system.
“We offer discounts for groups of 20 or more,” Wenner said. “Groups of 25-plus also have the option of arranging a talk-back after their show with the artistic director. Maine is a great place to vacation, especially in the summer, and there is a lot to do in the midcoast area, in addition to visiting MSMT.”
This year’s summer shows include Million Dollar Quartet, Beauty and the Beast, Saturday Night Fever and Singin’ in the Rain. The lineup for 2019 will be announced in August.
Maine State Music Theatre will also have a Monday Performance Series that will include shows like I Love a Piano and Bye Bye Birdie. Late summer of 2018, Maine State Music Theatre and the Portland Stage will collaborate to put on Nunsense, a tale of five nuns and their antics.
The theater is located in an area that is within walking distance to a variety of dining choices featuring a wide range of culinary options.
Motorcoaches can drop off and pick up groups in designated spots, with parking available nearby.
