Offering a quiet respite from the everyday world, Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, is an oasis of greenery and art.

“Grounds for Sculpture is such a unique experience when you come here because it is both a museum and a sculpture garden,” said Libby Vieira da Cunha, manager of group visits. “Unlike going to just a botanical garden or museum, we have a combination of both of those things.”

The garden/museum has six indoor gallery spaces featuring works by emerging artists as well as established artists, including more than 270 sculptures.

Trained docents lead tours, and special rates are available for groups of 15 or more. Private tours can also be scheduled with advanced booking. The garden has accessible pathways and offers wheelchairs and motorized scooters for rental.

For hands-on experiences, Grounds for Sculpture offers team building activities, hands-on art making, sculpture hunts and other programs, da Cunha said.

“There’s just so much to do here,” said Coby Green-Rifkin, director of marketing communications. “You can get as immersed in art as you want. You can just stroll in the gardens, and it’s absolutely beautiful. You can make art. You can get inspired. You can just bring your favorite book and sit on a bench. It’s really all about the individual and the kind of experience they want to create.”

Grounds for Sculpture also can create experiences for groups.

“If they want to get their hands dirty and make something, or if they want to learn more about the sculpture garden or specific works, Libby and her team can provide tours,” Green-Rifkin said. “It’s a very magical place.”

Free motorcoach parking is available.
