Holmes County in northeast Ohio is a largely agricultural area that is home to one of the largest Amish settlements in the world. Many visitors come to experience the Amish lifestyle and enjoy an authentic Amish-style dinner. The county — set on the fringe of the Appalachian foothills — also offers grand views of rolling hills, farm fields and forests, outdoor adventures, and opportunities to connect with a community committed to self-sufficiency through cottage industries and small-scale food production.
“Holmes County embraces those travelers looking to slow down and unwind in the quiet countryside,” said Shannon Carter, brand and marketing manager at Holmes County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau. “We invite our guests to the table. Sharing a meal together is not about the food, it’s about connecting and understanding each other. There is so much to see and do here, that you will need to plan multiple trips to fully embrace all we have to offer.”
