IMMERSE
Western art and culture are memorialized in myriad museums across Billings. Visit the Tippet Rise Art Center, also a 12,000-acre working sheep and cattle ranch, to explore a fusion of art, music, architecture, and nature through seasonal classical music concerts and outdoor sculpture tours. Or, check out the Yellowstone Art Museum, home to a rotating collection of art pieces that highlight the natural splendor of Montana and its surrounding regions.
LEARN
Established in 1882, Billings boasts a history that is both rich and unique. To explore the early origins of Billings, groups may want to visit Yellowstone County Museum or tour the mansion of one of Billings’ earliest and most notable residents, Preston Boyd Moss. The region’s history can also be traced through time at Pompeys Pillar National Monument, home of the only remaining physical evidence of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and at the Indian Memorial at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument.
EXPLORE
Is your group looking to take in some of that fresh mountain air? Consider climbing the iconic Rimrocks, sandstone formations that encircle the state’s largest city some 500 feet below. Looking for something a little tamer? Billings boasts more than 47 miles of trails for hiking or biking. Consider Four Dances Recreation Area or Skyline Trail for beginner-level treks. Or, take to the water at Lake Elmo State Park, a reservoir popular for swimming, boardsailing, and nonmotorized boating.
