VISIT

Tours in this quaint coastal community would be incomplete without some face-to-face time with the area’s diverse wildlife. Stop by the Oregon Coast Aquarium to visit birds, fish, invertebrates, marine mammals, and more across a dozen exhibits. Tour the Hatfield Marine Science Visitor Center to learn about marine species, research, and the coastal environment. For a peek of some wildlife in its natural habitat, swing by Port Dock One on Newport’s Bay Front to observe sea lions lounging on their own docks.

RECREATE

For those looking to spend a bit more time outdoors, Beverly Beach State Park is a great place to camp, explore the tidepools, watch for whales, picnic, or simply enjoy the beach. Bayfront Kayak Tours will get your group out on the water as they explore the historic landmarks of the area, like Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. For the fishermen (or fisherwomen) of the group, drop a lure off the South Jetty, a beautiful spot that offers views of the bay, the Yaquina Bay Bridge, wildlife, and various watercraft passing through.

SHOP

Newport is bursting with boutique galleries and shops your group will love. Forinash Gallery features photos of marine life and historic landmarks by award-winning photographer Chuck Forinash. The Hot Shop sells locally blown glass crafts, while Bayscapes Gallery & Coffeehouse allows guests to sip while they shop or enjoy views of the sea lion decks below. And don’t forget to swing by Made in Oregon for artisan goods supplied by local craftspeople.
