You do not want to miss out on a visit to Storybook Land and the Land of Oz, a theme park featuring classic fairy tales and a “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” section—fitting, as “Oz” author L. Frank Baum once lived in Aberdeen. The surrounding 210-acre area of Wylie Park offers more than 30 miles of trails, a lakeside beach, watercraft rentals, fishing, mini golf, go-karts, and pedal-powered rentals ideal for the more active group.

Aberdeen has no shortage of unique activities. Allevity Entertainment is an arcade with miniature bowling, laser tag, a climbing wall, and modern games. Sharpen your throwing skills at Hub City Axe Throwing. Or, enjoy local art at the Aberdeen Recreation & Cultural Arts Center. For some old-school fun, step back into the 1980s at Retrocade, where tourgoers can play classic pinball machines and video games.

SPECTATE

If you are planning a summer visit, catch an action-packed performance of the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts Water Ski Team on the waters of Dahme Lake. All year round, get engrossed in a performance of the Aberdeen Community Theatre or the beautifully renovated Johnson Fine Arts Center. For sports fans, attend a home game of the Aberdeen Wings junior hockey team between September and April, or watch an auto race at the Brown County Speedway on Friday nights in summer. And don’t miss NCAA Division II sports action from the Northern State University Wolves including volleyball, football, basketball, baseball, and softball.

LEARN

Explore the history of Brown County from prehistoric times to the semi-modern era on a group tour at the Dacotah Prairie Museum. For the art lovers of your group, consider a visit to Northern Art Galleries, where guests can meet the artists and learn about their work.
