RIDE

All aboard at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum for some fun and adventure in Chattanooga. From meticulously restored steam engines to interactive exhibits, this unique museum will not only appeal to train enthusiasts but also anyone who appreciates American history and technology. Exhibits here will take guests on a journey through time as they learn about significant stops along America’s railway, from its earliest times, through World War II, to the modern era. Admission includes a train ticket to explore parts of scenic Chattanooga. Something a little different is the International Towing & Recovery Museum, where tow trucks and other machinery are on display from times now past.

ENJOY

It has been said that art imitates life. Find different life perspectives at the many area art galleries, among them the Hunter Museum of American Art, which offers guests a variety of experiences including decorative arts, mixed media, paintings, photos, sculptures, and works on paper in its permanent collection. It also welcomes new and traveling exhibits. For an outdoors experience, visit Sculpture Fields at Montague Park.

EXPERIENCE

When the weather is welcoming and warm, visit Riverfront Nights for free summer concerts. Held at Ross’s Landing, the series showcases some of the best local musicians. For more fun outside (and inside), a stop at the Chattanooga Zoo is a good pick. Besides seeing a variety of animals, the zoo also hosts a colorful lantern festival. The Bessie Smith Cultural Center and Chattanooga African American Museum have a mixture of offerings, providing guests many ways to enjoy their experience, from guided group tours, community events, and event space rentals. Also, many public art pieces, like wall murals on buildings, are displayed in town, including near Foster Street and East 10th Street.
