EXPLORE

Greensboro is unique in that it has several monikers, among them Tournament Town and Gate City. But the community also is known as Jeansboro, a nod to its roots as the former “Denim Capital of the World.” Groups will find this heritage in Greensboro’s attractions, food, and even hotels. Of the latter, the Hotel Denim, a boutique hotel in midtown, pays homage to this unique bit of history through its denim-inspired decor, amenities, and murals. Statues and jean art are stationed throughout the community, including at the local airport. When it’s time to eat, stop by Blue Denim for some Cajun, Creole, and Southern cuisine. If the food tastes better here, it might be because it is locally sourced. Also, learn about the former jean capital at the Greensboro History Museum.

LEARN

Take members of your group back in time at the Brookhaven Mill Farm, a historic property that dates to the 1880s and features a Victorian gazebo, petting zoo, old-timey farm store, and traditional bed-and-breakfast. It’ll prepare your group to visit more modern venues, such as the Blandwood Museum, which features events throughout the year, including a bourbon festival in November and Christmas concerts in December. The building itself is a historic treasure, providing visitors with an ensemble of mid-19th-century architecture, decorative arts, landscape paintings, and portraiture.
