The new KCK Taco Trail proves tacos are a tasty way to promote Kansas City, Kansas.

The Kansas City Kansas Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched the KCK Taco Trail, a mapped-out trail of nearly 50 local taquerias.

Within the last decade, the taco scene has exploded with taquerias all over town, making Kansas City, Kansas, the go-to destination for authentic tacos. The KCK Taco Trail gives the community a flavor-filled experience of culture and history through food.

“Tacos play a key part in connecting our neighborhoods in Kansas City, Kansas,” said Alan Carr, executive director of the KCK CVB. “The KCK Taco Trail supports local mom-and-pop shops and we are thrilled to showcase some of the best taquerias in the city through this unique experience.”

The taco trail isn’t just about tacos, it’s about promoting the authentic side of Kansas City, Kansas, through a flavor-filled experience of culture and history through food, noted Maila Yang, marketing and communications manager at the bureau.

“Kansas City, Kansas, is a melting pot of cultures, and this can be found through our art, historical sites and most noticeably our food scene,” Yang said. “Barbecue may be known as the classic cuisine of Kansas City, but here in ‘KCK,’ as the locals call it, you’ll find you’re never too far from tasty tacos. Kansas City, Kansas, has been known for our authentic street tacos for quite some time now — the creation of the trail helps connect visitors to some of the best tacos in Kansas City all in one place.”

The bureau’s goal was to develop a product that would give visitors an authentic urban experience. “Most of the restaurants listed on the KCK Taco Trail pass are small neighborhood restaurants, immigrant-owned, with primarily Spanish speaking employees,” Yang said. “The taco trail helps stimulate tourism dollars into our local, mom-and-pop shops, brings people to explore our small unique neighborhoods and helps to tell the cultural story of Kansas City, Kansas.”

Locals and visitors alike can visit kcktacotrail.com to sign up for the taco trail. The trail will not only map out where to find the most authentic street tacos and Tex-Mex-style tacos, but also give diners the chance to win prizes. Unlock prizes by eating tacos and checking in at restaurants:
