Coming to the Biltmore this November, the new exhibition series “Legends of Art & Innovation” features three different large scale, multi-sensory experiences highlighting the lives of three famous creators — Van Gogh, Monet and da Vinci.
The series was created and produced by Grande Experiences and utilizes the latest in immersive technology to highlight the lives of each artist. Different works of the artists will also be tied to George Vanderbilt’s collection of treasures on display at his home. Each exhibit of the series will be shown at the Biltmore’s event center located on the grounds of the estate.
First to debut at the historic mansion from November 5, 2021, through March 5, 2022, “Van Gogh Alive” — one of the most-visited multi-sensory experiences in the world — stimulates every sense while groups explore the life and work of Van Gogh from 1880 to 1890.
The exhibit is synchronized to a classical score while over 3,000 Van Gogh images display on giant screens, walls, ceilings, floors and even columns.
As the “Van Gogh Alive” exhibit will be available during Christmas at Biltmore, access to the exhibit is included with Expert-Guided Plus admission.
A bigger fan of the impressionist period? Book a group visit from March 9, 2022, through July 10, 2022. The “Monet & Friends — Life, Light & Color” portion of the series celebrates artist Claude Monet and the Impressionist painters of the mid 19th century through the early 20th century. See works by Pissarro, Renoir, Cézanne, Degas and more, in addition to Monet.
Diving into not only the artists’ paintings but also the history of the movement surrounding the era’s social climate, “Monet & Friends” boasts a musical score featuring Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Ravel and Offenbach alongside light and sound effects.
From artist and sculptor to engineer and philosopher, Leonardo da Vinci’s impressive titles and feats are brought to life in “Leonardo da Vinci — 500 Years of Genius.”
Showing from July 13, 2022, through January 8, 2023, the exhibit invites visitors to explore the mind of the Renaissance genius through multi-sensory effects. Images zoom in and out, allowing visitors to see details and key features of da Vinci’s works. Also included in the exhibit are 75 large-scale machine inventions.
