First established in 1880, Ramseyer Farms in Wooster is now in its fifth generation of family ownership. For more than 90 years, the farm predominantly grew potatoes specifically for making potato chips, but today the 720-acre farm grows pumpkins, soybeans, corn, and wheat. Visitors can learn all about this and more on educational tours of the farm, and have some fun as well with corn mazes, hayrides, and much more, depending on the season.

Groups can experience even more of the agricultural delights of Wayne County at one of its orchards and markets, such as Maurer’s Farm Market in Wooster. Here, visitors can have the fun of picking their own strawberries, or select from the farm’s variety of other fruits and vegetables. Another must-see spot is Bauman Orchards in Rittman. First established in 1929, Bauman Orchards is set on 260 acres with 100,000 apple trees and 15,000 peach trees. Be sure to visit in the fall for fresh apple cider and baked goods.

For an experience unlike anything else, be sure to visit in the summer for Buckin’ Ohio, a pro bull riding series that’s become an area tradition. Bull riding takes place on the same ranch where the animals were raised, unusual in comparison with other rodeos. That makes for a unique setting among the pastures and a special way to spend a summer evening.

And don’t forget about some unique shopping opportunities. One of the most famous traditions in Wayne County is that established by The J.M. Smucker Co., established in Orrville more than 120 years ago. Today, groups can visit the Smucker Store, getting their fill of unique products from the Smucker’s line of products, including just about every flavor of jelly you can think of.
