The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum is one of 15 Presidential Libraries operated by the National Archives and Records Administration. Presidential Libraries promote understanding of the presidency and the American experience, preserving and providing access to historical materials, supporting research, and creating interactive programs and exhibits that educate and inspire. Texas has three Presidential Libraries, and a fourth is located in Arkansas, easily accommodated into a Presidential Libraries tour.

The Bush Library & Museum offers something for everyone. Highlights include replicas of Bush’s Camp David office, the White House Situation Room, a piece of the Berlin Wall, and the Oval Office—an excellent photo opportunity—and much more. Since President Bush held such a variety of positions throughout his career, there are exhibits on the oil industry, the United Nations, and the Central Intelligence Agency.

President Bush was also known for his belief that faith, family, friendship, and service to others are all key to living a successful life, so the themes of family and public service can be found throughout the museum. It’s impossible to tell the story of George Bush without including Barbara Bush, and you will find her and their children in many of the exhibits as well.

While at the Bush Library & Museum, many guests take the opportunity to visit the Bush Family Gravesite, the Presidential Pond with the Barbara Bush Rose Gardens, the statue of George Bush, and the statue, “The Day the Wall Came Down,” which honors the fall of the Berlin Wall. The 4141/Marine One Pavilion contains the 4141 Locomotive and a former Marine One helicopter; the Pavilion is open to all visitors, with or without a ticket.

The museum also features temporary exhibits on a variety of topics, providing repeat guests a new experience every time. Now through March 30, 2025, see “The Spirit of the Place” on exhibit. Developed in conjunction with 41@100, “The Spirit of the Place” explores the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center’s place in the community and its impact on the world.

The Bush Library & Museum can accommodate groups of any size, though tours may need to be broken into multiple groups for different areas. Group rates are available, and tours can possibly be customized depending on group type and size. School groups can consult with the educational department to schedule tours and educational activities. Dining is available at Daisy’s Table in the 4141/Marine One Pavilion. Motorcoach parking is available. More information can be found in the Plan Your Visit tab at Bush41.org.
