The Corydon State Historic Site is Indiana’s first state capitol. Visit the federal-style limestone building that was built between 1814 to 1816 and served as the state capitol from 1816 to 1825. Tours also include Governor Hendricks’ Headquarters, a two-story federal style brick house built in 1817, which also served as Governor Hendricks’ home while he was governor of Indiana from 1822 to 1825. Experience our underground at Indiana Caverns where you’ll take an underground boat ride and discover ice age bones, or discover the caverns that Daniel Boone discovered in the 1700s at Squire Boone Caverns and Village, where you can pan for gemstones, dip your own candle, satisfy your sweet tooth in the bakery or take in the beauty of the working grist mill.

You’ll find three group-friendly wineries in Harrison County: Best Vineyards Winery and Distillery, Indian Creek Winery and Turtle Run Winery. Each invite visitors for tastings, tours or conversation with a fellow wine enthusiast, and all are within a 30-minute drive. Scenic Indiana State Road 62 connects many of the wineries, and is a beautiful way to experience the scenery and small town charm of the area.

Watch in amazement a demonstration of hand-blown art glass at Zimmerman Art Glass Factory. With the tools he learned to use as child, Kerry Zimmerman carries on a family tradition that has continued through three generations. Watch as he conducts off-hand glassmaking, meaning they make glass items by hand without the use of molds. Zimmerman’s make 110 different pieces of art like paperweights, fruit and holiday ornaments.

Shopping in Historic Corydon is a charming experience. With many eclectic vendors where you can learn crafts like jewelry making and wood carving. Antique shops are very popular in the historic downtown Corydon shopping district.
