SHOP
If it’s unique shopping your group is after, they’ll find it in Muskingum County. Consider a visit to charming Dresden, offering a delightful blend of history, craftsmanship, and small-town hospitality. Known as the birthplace of the Longaberger Basket Company, and home of the “World’s Largest Basket,” Dresden features quaint boutiques, local dining, and a rich heritage.

After exploring the birthplaces of baskets, head to Zanesville for a look at the home of Ohio Stoneware. First opened in 2005, Ohio Stoneware is one of America’s last remaining commercial pottery manufacturers, operating in what used to be the “Pottery Capital of the World.” When visiting the retail store, guests will find two stories of shopping delight! A decorator is on site Monday through Friday so visitors can witness the decorating process firsthand. Groups of 10 or more are welcome by appointment, and guides are happy to offer tours of the manufacturing floor.

LEARN
Be sure to make time for a visit to one of Muskingum County’s many fascinating museums, such as the John and Annie Glenn Museum. Glenn is one of many astronauts native to Ohio, and visitors will learn all about his history-making life. Located inside of Glenn’s boyhood home, the museum experience begins with an actor inviting guests into the home as if they are old friends stopping by to visit the Glenn family. The top floor includes John’s bedroom that appears as it was when he was 16 years old.
Other museums to add to your itinerary include the National Road & Zane Grey Museum, Roseville Historical Society, Stone Academy Historic Site and Museum, and Nelson T. Gant Homestead.
