Rock County Historical Society’s Lincoln-Tallman House
Explore this historic Italianate-style mansion where Abraham Lincoln was a guest in 1859. Learn the reason behind his “extended stay.” Also located on the Rock County Historical Society Campus is the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center featuring several permanent and rotating exhibits, including Pauline Pottery and Pickard China, and browse items by local artisans in the gift shop.
Rotary Botanical Gardens
Tour 20 acres of scenic walkways that wind their way over picturesque bridges, through an ornate gazebo, and past heavenly scented flowers in this award-winning garden. Shop the Cottage Garden Gallery, featuring local and regional artisans. Annually, from May through September, the Rotary Botanical Gardens has a display throughout the gardens called the Garden Art Project. This year’s theme will be lady bugs.
Skelly’s Farm Market
Discover one of the largest providers of fresh produce in southern Wisconsin that is sold directly to the consumers. Then shop in the gift shop and enjoy a delicious treat from the bakery. Seasonally, experience sunflower fields and corn mazes.
Sterling North Home & Museum
Visit the childhood home of Sterling North, an Edgerton native who lived from 1906 to 1974. North wrote such classics as “So Dear to My Heart,” “The Wolfling,” and beloved children’s book “Rascal,” an autobiographical story about raising a raccoon in the Edgerton area in the early 1900s. Both “Rascal” and “So Dear to My Heart” were adapted to films by Walt Disney. His childhood home and barn have been turned into a museum and literary center. Self-guided individual tours, and guided school and group tours are available. There is also a gift shop that features books, clothing, and collectibles.
