Make your first stop in Southwest Virginia at the Regional Visitors Center in Wytheville. This beautiful facility offers a wealth of information about all the Blue Ridge Mountain area of Virginia. The Center offers ample motorcoach parking and is accessible from any of Wytheville’s three exits (I-81/77 Exit 73, I-77 Exit 41 or I-81 Exit 70), just follow the blue Visitors Center signs. Hours are Monday-Sunday 9-5.
At the crossroads of early pioneer routes, Wytheville
(WITH-vill) was a 19th century transportation center. The mountain town in the Blue Ridge Highlands later became a summer resort due to the cooler climate and “healing waters.” Over the last 200 years, Wytheville’s “great roads” have been a driving force in its progress and attraction. Today two federal highways, Interstates 77 and 81, make it a modern day junction.
