CHEER

With the departure of the Montreal Expos for Washington, D.C., in 2004, the Toronto Blue Jays became Canada’s only Major League Baseball team. So, when they take the field at Rogers Centre, it’s more than just a matter of Toronto pride—it’s Canadian pride. Dedicated Jays fans cheer on their team rain or shine thanks to the retractable roof, and there’s even a hotel with rooms that overlook the outfield.

As one of North America’s biggest cities, Toronto is home to teams in all other major pro sports as well. Near Rogers Centre, the Toronto Argonauts of Canadian football and Toronto FC of Major League Soccer share BMO Field. And the Toronto Raptors of the NBA and Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL share Scotiabank Arena. In hockey-crazy Toronto, the Leafs are often the main attraction.

LEARN

Just steps from Scotiabank Arena is the Hockey Hall of Fame, celebrating the greatest players and teams from around the world. The hall has countless artifacts on display, including the Stanley Cup, perhaps the most iconic trophy in sports. There are also many interactive exhibits, letting students take a shot on a virtual goalie and put on a headset to call the action in hockey highlights.

PLAY

After a day spent watching sports, it’s fun to get to play some, too, and Toronto has you covered there. True North Climbing in the Toronto suburb of North York lets students of all ages and ability levels scale indoor rock walls, with expert instruction available. For something a little lower impact, book a table—a ping pong table—at SPIN Toronto. Here, guests can serve up a spinning volley while the restaurant serves up tasty bites.
