Norfolk has the largest collection of free, public glass art in the world. Find pieces from renowned artists like Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, and Louis Comfort Tiffany throughout the waterfront city’s multiple museums, galleries, restaurants, and hotels. All glass exhibits are free and open to the public.
Explore
Stop at Chrysler Museum of Art, which has 50 galleries. Discover more beautiful pieces at Barry Art Museum on the Old Dominion University campus. The glass sculpture collection, featuring internationally known makers, enables the university to contribute substantially to the region’s growing reputation as a glass art center. Watch local artists at work, stroll through the public gallery, or sign up for art classes at D’art Center.

Located across from the Chrysler Museum of Art is its Perry Glass Studio, a modern, 7,000-square-foot facility for aspiring and master artists. The studio offers narrated demonstrations from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. The demonstrations are an incredible way to gain a little more insight into the beauty and craft behind glass art. There is an option to take a glassblowing class for a more hands-on experience.
