Spring is here and so are a number of new experiences in Cleveland, Ohio — home to the first indoor shopping mall and where the phrase “rock ’n’ roll” was coined. As the second-largest city in the state, Cleveland is a top destination for educational opportunities and cultural immersion for student groups.

The Cleveland Museum of Art will open the “Medieval Treasures From Münster Cathedral” exhibit in May, which will feature masterpieces from Saint Paul’s Cathedral in Münster, Germany. Students will see well-preserved church treasures and objects from the Middle Ages.

Looking for something a little more thrilling? The Roller Coaster Capital of the World — Cedar Point — is only an hour west of the Cleveland city center. New this season is the Snake River Expedition, in which riders will have to perform secret tasks and avoid “danger.”
In February, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame debuted the expanded “Legends of Rock” exhibit — now spanning four floors, including artifacts from Prince, Stevie Nicks, Bon Jovi, The Roots, Jimi Hendrix and others. Students will also see items from the museum’s vault that have never been on display before or haven’t been on display for years.
This April, Cleveland will hold the 86th NFL Draft, which will coincide with the opening of the “Super Bowl Halftime Show” exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Students will relive some iconic halftime shows through costumes, instruments, photos and video clips.
