Tucked away in Archdale, North Carolina, Kersey Valley Zipline is an adrenaline junkie’s dream.
“The zipline tour at Kersey Valley is an awesome memory-maker for groups as it is a great bonding experience to overcome one’s fear,” said Tony Wohlgemuth, president of Kersey Valley Zipline. “It is very common to not hear much talking on the first sky tower as the groups are taking it all in and wondering if they should come down. Then, once they get over their fear, screams and laughter can be heard and the guests that were scared are wanting to go first on the next sky tower.”
Zip line tours range from one to two hours, with 200 feet to over 800 feet in course length. Each tour is aviation-themed and begins with “Flight School,” covering the zip lining basics with a pre-flight briefing video and how-to information. All participants wear gloves, a helmet and a full-body harness with carabiner attached to a pulley that’s placed on a cable strung between the platforms.
The First Class Tour includes 14 zip lines and 10 sky towers with a total of 17 sky decks that represent airport city codes.
Aside from zip lining adventures, students can take on the high ropes challenge course, escape games, axe throwing and outdoor laser tag. And in the autumn months, students can explore the Maize Adventure (a corn maze) and Spooky Woods, the largest and scariest haunted house in all of North Carolina.
The high ropes course consists of three levels and a 34-foot-high rock climbing tower and is designed for beginners up to those that are more advanced.
“Kersey Valley is known for creating fun, out-of-the-box attractions and they all make for popular outings — our latest is indoor and outdoor axe throwing competitions,” Wohlgemuth said. “The goal from all of our guides and staff is for everyone to make memories that last a lifetime, and to be planning to return to try another adventure from our list of fun activities. The takeaway is the stories of the fun times they will be sharing for many years to come.”
